The story unfolded in Guapiles, Costa Rica, where Milagro Mᴜñoz Araya and her husband were driving near the veterinary hospital where she worked. Their attention was abruptly drawn to a small yellow puppy frantically darting back and forth in the middle of the road, dodging oncoming vehicles with remarkable agility.
Milagro recounted, “When I saw her anxiously darting from side to side, I sensed she was trying to convey something to us. So, my husband and I parked our car to comprehend the situation.”
They followed the distressed pup, who led them to a man lying on the ground with a walking cane beside him, clearly in distress. After the man was discharged from the hospital, Milagro learned where they lived and paid them a visit. To her dismay, their abode was the cramped confines of a van, a poignant reflection of their dire circumstances.
Chiquita, the brave and faithful furry hero, had a heart as colossal as they come. Milagro took it upon herself to assist Chiquita by bringing her to the clinic where she worked.
